Curriculum of Pharmacology & Toxicology
Marco Milanese is associate professor at the Department of Pharmacy, he is lecturer of Pharmacognosy for the Master Degrees in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and lecturer of Pharmacology for the Degree in Dental Hygiene. The scientific interest of Milanese Marco focuses on various aspects of neurotransmission and the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative processes; the research activity of Milanese Marco is characterised by the study of glutamatergic neurotransmission linked to excitotoxicity in neurodegenerative diseases, with particular interest to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The current research lines of Marco Milanese concern the study of the etiopathological mechanisms at the basis of ALS and applied translational research, by exploiting functional in-vitro studies on motoneuron, astrocyte and microglia primary cell cultures, and in-vivo behavioural analysis on experimental mouse models of ALS.
